2021 - Competition Results

Our final event of the year was the Autumn Greensome Stableford at Wensum Valley Golf Club on 21st October 2021. The day was slightly disrupted by the inclement weather. We had an hour delay in starting to enable the greens to become playable following the previous day's and overnight rain. Originally 68 ladies entered from 17 clubs but only 56 actually went out to play. Unfortunately, again due to the weather, buggies were not permitted and consequently there were a few cancellations. The day went off reasonably well taking everything into consideration and was enjoyed by those who participated. Thank you to Wensum Valley's Club Representative, Liz Dann, for all her help.

30 teams of 4 had entered. Unfortunately, a ballot had had to be held as Eaton could accommodate only 26 teams. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places would be presented at the AGM in February. Judith McKinnon had kindly donated a trophy which would be presented annually to the winners of the competition. The Society is very grateful to Judith for her generosity. Eaton had produced a cake celebrating the Society's 60th anniversary. A grand raffle was held which raised £360 for the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital Charity.

Competitions Secretary, Angie Allsopp, reported that the Society ran the Championships on Monday 21st June 2021 at Swaffham Golf Club. The weather was very kind to us and 48 ladies from 18 clubs took part. Ladies were given the option of playing golf only or playing and staying for a mini tea. This format proved popular. The course was in very good condition and we were well looked after by the indoor staff. The golf was played under England Golf Covid Restrictions and the new handicap system has given us a few problems. All the ladies played off the Swaffham Course Index but it should have been 95%. Hence all the cards have been sent to the Handicap Secretaries at the Clubs for them to take any action they wish. Angie thanked our President, Pippa, who was with her on the desk all day and helped with the cards and the raffle which raised £60 for the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital Charity.
