2022 - Competition Results
Competitions Secretary, Angie Allsopp, reported that our final event of the year was the Autumn Greensome Stableford at Swaffham Golf Club on 16th October 2022. 72 ladies entered originally but it was disappointing that three had to withdraw and on the day 69 ladies played from 17 clubs. Although it was raining when we all left home, the sun appeared eventually and shone for the rest of the day. Everyone seemed to enjoy their game which was followed by a delicious afternoon tea. Thank you to the Ladies' Captain of Swaffham, Ann Ewer, for all her help and to the staff for looking after us so well. Thanks also to Committee Member, Felicity Leigh, for her help on the day and for selling raffle tickets which raised £163 for the Norfolk & Norwich Hospitals Charity.
On a perfect, still, autumn day, 21 teams from across the county played for the Judith Mackinnon salver. The day was enjoyed by all with the greens in excellent condition and the fairways recovering from the extreme heat of the summer. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places were presented. At the AGM in February, the Judith Mackinnon salver will be presented to the winning team from Barnham Broom - June Meadows, Sue Lang, Sue Brothers and Heather Bullard. The Society is very grateful to everyone who entered the raffle which raised £320 for the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital Charity. Big thanks to the ladies of Dunston Hall who sold the raffle tickets and started everyone off.
Competitions Secretary, Angie Allsopp, reported that 56 ladies from 14 clubs took part in this year's Championship on Thursday 30th June 2022 at King's Lynn Golf Club. The new format seemed popular with ladies. King's Lynn was in very good condition and we were well looked after by all the staff. The weather kept fine for us. Trophies will be presented at the AGM next February and the winners will receive their vouchers through their Club Representative in due course.
The Spring Four Ball Betterball Stableford was held at Bawburgh Golf Club on 27th April 2022. Bawburgh was a good venue for our 4BBB competition which attracted 80 players from 16 clubs. The course was in good condition and, although the day was chilly, it kept fine and everyone seemed to enjoy their games. The staff at the club looked after us very well and everyone enjoyed the ham, egg and chips which they served after play. Congratulations to the winners - all receiving an M & S voucher along with a mini bottle of wine to celebrate their success. My thanks to Sheila Glenn, the NVLGS Bawburgh Representative, who ran the raffle and kindly found two ladies to act as starters then played golf at short notice when we had a late withdrawal. Our next event is the Championship which is being held at King's Lynn on Thursday 30th June. The format is slightly altered this year as was advertised at our AGM. Division 1 - handicaps 0 to 22.0 - will play a Medal and Division 2 - handicaps 22.1 to 36.0 - will play a Stableford.
